The Day we met Chewbacca (at HMV)

HMV Wheeler Gate in Nottingham ain't there no more...but here it is immortalised on the day last may when we met Peter Mayhew - Chewbacca from the Star Wars movies. Here's hoping anyone laid off by this closure has managed to get alternative employment in these troubled times.

As you'll see, Mr Mayhew was gracious enough to allow me to give him a hug in the photo - but on the whole he didn't seem too enthused to be in Nottingham...he seems a pretty quiet guy. Subsequently in his apperance at the nearby Monster Store my daughter asked him what the funniest thing was that ever happened to him while he was in costume as Chewbacca. He replied that this was the filming of the sequence in Empire when Harrison Ford is fixing the Millenium Falcon and the tools fell onto his head. Well, ya live and learn.

These pictures aren't great (the camera was playing up). But you'll get the idea.

ADS I SPENT TOO MUCH TIME LOOKING AT WHEN I WAS A KID PART 1

This was one of my favourite 1970's marvel ads. I spent hours planning which badges I would order but never seemed to get around to sending off the order. The special offer pack still looks like a good bargain. But I would've liked the Dr Strange and Conan badges too.

Forgotten Star Trek - Planet of the Dead Part 3

oops. No time to scan and crop these properly tonight but you get the idea. Why is Kirk wearing red? He always seems to be in TV21 stories. I'm guessing the reference material they sent out was in black and white. Mind you, I didn't see Star Trek in colour until the late seventies.

These pages seem a little more rushed but still good stuff and long unseen. Unless you have the long-forgotten British annual in which they appear.

Forgotten Star Trek - Planet of the Dead Part 2

Incredible effort here at making this look like an actual episode. Lovely 'beauty pass' of the Enterprise. And I'll even forgive the Tribbles being ripped off! So much better than Gold Key...
