I am reminded that my parents took me out of school in June 1977 to look for the Loch Ness Monster. I think the Local Education Authority might frown on that now - but I'm assured that all necessary forms were filled in. Note my Chinese sounding school name - a 'wong' is a field in old english. I also think I arrived back about the same time as the postcard.

Did you ever read The Mysterious Tadpole growing up?
ReplyDeleteNo, but I just googled it and I probably should've done! Looks great...I'd happily read it right now but I suspect my 11 year old alter ego would've found it too juvenile. He's so much more serious than I am...(and prefers Ingrid Pitt and Jenny Agutter).
ReplyDeleteIt is such a great book! I'm not sure if you have children, but if you do, they will surely steal the book out from under you before you ever get to feast your eyes on the wonderous illustrations. The books started a life long love for all things mysterious and probably not true!
